DECEMBER: SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINE OF CELEBRATION

December: Spiritual discipline of CElebration

As we come to our final month in The Good Life, we end with the spiritual discipline of Celebration!

Throughout the Bible, God’s people celebrated. They celebrated God’s miracles, faithfulness, and kindness to them. They celebrated weddings and had dinner parties. God instructs his people to eat good food, drink good drink, dance and celebrate!

Followers of Jesus have much to celebrate, and this month we are going to learn how celebration is an act that honors God and is found in the life of Jesus.

4 WAYS TO PRACTICE CELEBRATION

    1. Take time to reflect on the good of this year
Don’t rush through the holidays and into the new year without stopping to remember the good that took place. Revisit old journals, scroll through the photos on your phone, and tell stories with your community about the good things God did this year.

    1. Attend your church’s weekend service
Since the beginning, followers of Jesus have celebrated weekly together. That’s what a weekend church service it – a celebration! If you have not been attending your church’s services in person, make it a point to gather with your community and celebrate Jesus’s birth, life, death, and resurrection!

    1. Plan one party
Yes, we are telling you to plan a party! Make it fun! Get some great food, delicious drinks, and invite your community and neighbors to gather. Play the most fun games and laugh with your people!

    1. At your celebrations, take time to celebrate that good God has done this year
Ultimately we don’t just party to party, but we gather to celebrate what God has done. That’s what people in the Bible did, and that’s what we do as well. At your party, find a way to remember and celebrate what God had done. Tell stories. Write cards. Do something to highlight God’s good work in your life and in this world!
